The word hearty means “exuberant, cheerful, jovial, spirited, vivacious, and enthusiastic.” When our hope is in the Lord, we have every reason to be confident in the outcome of our struggle. This does not mean every situation will be resolved to our satisfaction. It means that we can trust God to work in our lives, showing us the way, developing our character, and teaching us more about Him.
When we place our hope in the Lord, He strengthens us. When we take the focus off of ourselves and our problem, training our eyes upon Him instead, we find all the courage and strength we need. Whether you are drowning in debt, self-pity, fear, bitterness, or any other hardship, be of good courage, hope in the Lord, and let His strength be yours today.
