My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.
Psalm 5:3, NKJV
I love morning the way a dog loves a bone. I love to hear birds begin their symphony. I love the way sunlight pushes back darkness. Take that, gloomy shadows of doubt and fear. Your uncertainty is unwelcome in my sanctuary. Every morning declares God’s glorious victory. Add coffee, if you wish, to reach new heights of rapturous optimism. Crack your Bible, hear from God, and emerge to face the challenges of the day.
In this verse, the voice God hears directed to Him in the morning is King David singing His praises while fleeing from enemies who wanted to kill him. Even while running for his life, David took the time to look up to God in the morning and worship Him. There is no better way to start your day.
