“Let’s Roll!”

Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.
Proverbs 16:3, NKJV

The Hebrew word galal, which is translated “commit” in this verse, literally means to roll something away from you. To roll our works, efforts, and activities in the direction of the Lord is to release them into His care and give them completely over to Him.

On September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer led the heroes of United Airlines Flight 93 to storm the cockpit and overthrow hijackers whose primary target was the White House. His final words: “Some of our greatest moments have been acts of courage for which no one could have been prepared. But we have our marching orders. My fellow Americans, let’s roll!”

Are your hopes, dreams, plans, and actions focused upon your selfish desires or have you rolled them in the direction of the Lord, allowing Him to establish your thoughts? You may not be called upon to die a hero’s death, but you must decide how you are going to roll.
