Teaching Grandma

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
Titus 2:3, NKJV

In this verse, Paul trains Titus in teaching the older women. With grown up children, these ladies had few responsibilities and a fair amount of idle time. They were to live respectfully, express their opinions of others charitably, remain sober constantly, and teach the younger women to be good faithfully.

At my first church, seventy percent of the people were senior adults. I was just a twenty-six year-old preacher boy who taught them everything I knew and a few things I didn’t. What a daunting challenge it was to instruct people who had lived half a century longer than I had! Frankly, for most of us, teaching Grandma Christianity is like teaching Tom Brady football.
