God’s Creation

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1, NKJV

In 1882, a British scientist by the name of Herbert Spencer drew wide acclaim by identifying the five manifestations of all existence: time, force, action, space, and matter. He was lauded by the scientific community for his great contribution.

Although Spencer was not a Christian, his conclusions are remarkably consistent with the first verse in the Bible. Notice that God describes the beginning of the universe in precisely the same way.

In the beginning…that’s TIME. God…that’s FORCE. Created…that’s ACTION. The heavens…that’s SPACE. And the earth…that’s MATTER.

Each of Spencer’s five manifestations of existence are addressed, in order, in the very first verse of the Bible. God’s Word is more than just a literary masterpiece, for it brilliantly reveals the magnificent scope of all existence.
