Fort Yahweh

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.
Proverbs 18:10, NKJV

Mention the word “tower” today and some will think of the September 11 attacks upon the World Trade Center. Others will think of Trump Tower, the mixed-use skyscraper owned by America’s 45th President. In earlier times, towers were seen as impregnable fortresses.

A tower was a refuge, a sanctuary, a place of safety where no enemy could infiltrate. During ancient times, people had no security systems. They had no phones to call law enforcement officers. In emergencies, they simply ran inside the tower.

While every heart longs for a place of security and protection from harm, true peace and safety can only be found when we flee from the dangers of this world and sprint swiftly toward the mighty fortress who is our God.
