Peace Plan

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12:18, NKJV

Fifty years ago, student activists on American college campuses opposed the Vietnam War with counter-cultural songs, nonconformist slogans, and a radically utopian commitment to free love, groovy tunes, and experimental drug use. The slogan Make Love Not War urged both sexual promiscuity and military pacifism. Despite their youthful enthusiasm, hippies displayed a feeble comprehension of marital, pharmaceutical, and geopolitical realities.

Their lofty aim of peace on earth, however idealistic, was nevertheless both praiseworthy and noble. There will be peace on earth one day as Jesus reigns in His Millennial Kingdom. But for now, whether we like it or not, we reside in a world in which peace does not always depend upon us. Strive for peace every day. Do everything you can to live in harmony. Just remember that Paul did not get along with everyone and neither will we.
