But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
Luke 6:32, NKJV
Nobody loves a bully. On virtually every playground we can find a ruffian whose purpose in life is to torment and intimidate others, pushing the boundaries as far as they can to see if anyone is going to push back. Their aggressive attitudes, mean words, and violent actions are intended to throw down the gauntlet and challenge their rival to combat. It is generally the cry of a weak and insecure person seeking attention.
The world tells us to give our enemies what they’ve got coming. Jesus offers another way. Anyone can love their friends. It takes courage to love your enemies. Do you have a bully, critic, or nemesis in your life? First, take reasonable steps to protect yourself from harm. Second, love them and pray for them. No one is beyond the reach of God’s love.
